After much deliberation between the Olympus EP-3 and the Panasonic GX-1, we decided on this.
Olympus EP-3 |
Basically, the Panasonic GX-1 is newer, has a better sensor, new power zoom lens, as opposed to the EP-3's manual zoom lens, and is slightly cheaper. The GX-1 should be a no-brainer, right?
Welll.... Once we took pictures and viewed them on the camera screen, we decided on the EP-3. The EP-3 has a better LCD and in built stabiliser, resulting in more vibrant colours. Also, the Art Filters made the EP-3 a fun camera.
The GX-1's inferior screen made the pictures look duller, although some people say that the colours are more natural and that it wouldn't make a difference on the computer screen, the vast difference really swayed us. After all we aren't pros, what we are looking for is more of fun rather than quality pictures to post-process with.
The Panasonic lens are also interchangeable with Olympus bodies are we are already looking to add a prime lens to our kit. Olympus 12mm F2, Panasonic 20mm F1.7 or Olympus 45mm F1.8?
Right now we are leaning towards the Panny 20mm as it's more versatile, more of landscape but can be used for potrait, it's a pancake lens and it has a big aperture for low light senarios.
Now we are prepared for Japan!
